Techno Synesthesia: The Sound of Archway
- Fri 2520:00-21:00
The project “Techno Synesthesia” researches music in a visual level with computer technology. The computer algorithm takes out the top three differences in shade, lights on the timeline of grid video images and converts RGB values to musical notes. At the beginning of the 20th century, painter Kandinsky and composer Scriabin explored the common visual and auditory information with the art of different expressions. Techno Synesthesia is an experimental Bart that was inherited by the predecessors of the 20th century and considers the fusion and compatibility of multiple sensory organs by computer technology as a new evolution of the 21st century.
Kenji Kojima (JP)
Kenji Kojima has been experimenting with the relationships between perception and cognition, technology, music and visual art since the early 90’s. Born in Japan, he moved to New York in 1980. He painted egg tempera paintings until a personal computer was improved rapidly during the 80’s, so he switched his artwork to digital. His early digital works were archived in the New Museum – Rhizome, New York. He developed the algorithm RGB Music that converted digital color values to musical notes. Techno Synesthesia project has exhibited in New York and media art festivals worldwide, including Europe, Brazil, and online at ACM SIGGRAPH.
