m/moire

m/moire depicts a surrealistic future in which hardware data storage is a symbolic vestige. An explorer of the digital jungle encounters a human-made totem left behind to document technologies of the past. As the totem unfolds, it opens a portal to a corrupted simulacrum of the human body.

m/moire is a piece about our collective effort to archive the human legacy and shape everything around us to our image. As virtual realms are designed after the concrete world that we know, we are forcing our legacy into something we barely know. Databending is used at different steps in the creative process to shape a generic 3d model into a virtual avatar. Just like the marks and scars on our body document our past, the controlled glitch breaks the rigid digital body into a unique vessel of data.

Baron Lanteigne (CA)

Baron Lanteigne’s post-glitch approach exploits the limits and defects of consumer technology to reveal the pixel matrix that supports his creations. Using this screen-based connection between his virtual worlds, Baron Lanteigne exposes the fluid nature of identity and perception in the post-internet era.
This creative process unfolds through online collaborations with artists on different platforms. (The Wrong Biennale, Vimeo Staff Pick, Spamm Power). This virtual presence is complemented by screenings in various events such as SAT Fest (CA), Art Souterrain (CA), Dutch Design Week (NL), Real-Fake Touring Exhibition (US), CuVo Video Art Festival (ES), CPH:DOX (DK) and many more.
